I see so many students trying to make swing changes at full speed.
They try to hit the ball as hard as they can and often with the
driver. All they're really doing is making more permanent their
old swing problems.
To make any swing change, I would encourage you to make a complete
swing at half your normal swing speed. What I'm talking about is a
drill I call - - Full Motion Half Speed.
First, do your very best to get set-up properly, it will help you
make your best swing and get your ball to the target more often.
Making a full motion swing at half the speed will help you sense
what is going on while you're striking the golf ball. Obviously,
don't expect your ball to go the full distance when you do this
drill.
Once you're in a good set-up position, all you do is make a full
motion swing at half speed.
Hold your balance and make sure that when you finish you're in
the position you want to be for every good golf shot.
Again, you can't make productive swing changes at full speed.
You will just revert back to old habits and you won't be able to
feel what's going on in your own golf swing. So, hit a lot of
golf shots at Full Motion Half Speed with every club and then
you'll start making positive changes to your swing.
