Tips from the Pros!

Tips for The Grip                 by David Leadbetter

The Left Hand

For a right-handed player, the left hand is essential. You don't want to put the club too high in the palm of your hand. You want to position it diagonally across the palm.

The Right Hand

You should have a fairly neutral right hand grip -- don't hold too tightly. If you create a gap in between the first and second fingers, you will create a "trigger". This allows you to hold the angle and get more power.

Linking Hands Together

The hands need to stay together -- this is vital. If you place a quarter on top of your left thumb and then close your right hand down, you can practice keeping a tight grip on the club.

Grip Thickness

You should make sure that your grips fit your hand properly. To check your grip, place your hand around the club. You don't want your middle fingers running into and overlapping the palm. You do want a small gap between the pinkie and pad on the hand.
